getting ready for Sunday Monring

A brief Overview

We are making a conscious effort to be a church for all generations.  What I really mean is that we are a big family with all ages represented.  We often have meals together.  We enjoy working and playing together, in addition to all the spiritual activity.  We have Sunday School for all ages and children’s church for through 6th grade.  We are also in the process of developing a Youth Group for 6th through 12th  graders.

The History of Peace Wesleyan Church

In 2013 Peace celebrated its 110 year anniversary.  Back then (1903) without the modern luxuries of transportation, people would walk 2-3 miles from Falconer to Lavant Wesleyan church.  This was particularly a challenge in the winter months.  Under the leadership of Rev. Sarah Schultz and Sister Phillips, The Lyndon Park Wesleyan Methodist Church was birthed.  In 2010 (after several name changes throughout its history, including Falconer First Wesleyan Church)  the church changed its name to  Peace Wesleyan Church.   In order to extend its ministry beyond Falconer to the greater Jamestown area, church leadership felt a name change was necessary.

Unique to Peace has been the leadership of women clergy.  Its first 22 years was led by women.  In its history, including the present and recent history, there have been 5 ordained women serving as pastors.

What Wesleyans Believe…

Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life. We believe that those who are made new in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord’s Spirit. We believe in the Bible and its sufficiency to establish our faith and conduct. We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and be made new in Christ. We believe that the purpose of the Church is to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to reach a lost and fallen world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.
